Hello,

I am trying to make a mold cavity using a contoured part to perform a Boolean subtraction for the cavity. This is fairly easily done using Component Operation -> Cut. However, I want all areas above the contoured part to be open, as if the bottom contour of the mold was fabbed by a 3axis CNC with a ball end mill. The only way I can figure out to do this is by patterning many copies of the contoured part along the z-axis, and then subtracting them from the mold. This works, but it is arduous and leaves scalloped edges. Any advice on how to easily make this feature?

This is easily done using pro/mold. I assume you do not have this. Maybe you can copy the outside surfaces from the part to the cavity part and do a "solidify" with the surface. For this to work you would need to close the surface completely to form a scoop.
