Non-return valves for combined Liquid and Gas Service

Non-return valves for combined Liquid and Gas Service

Non-return valves for combined Liquid and Gas Service

(OP)
Hello -

The system in question is an 11,000 gallon process tank, 10,000 gal. liquid + 1,000 gallon of headspace. Chemicals are added and the reaction proceeds under sealed conditions. A mixture of CO2 & NOx evolves and collects in this headspace. Pressure is regulated to 15psig. The primary control valve is used to maintain this headspace pressure, relieving the gas as needed. The Pressure Relief Valve is set at 35psig, and is primarily for potential liquid overflow.

Issue: cannot find a check valve that is suitable for this gas and liquid application.

Question: any suggested non-return valve?

RE: Non-return valves for combined Liquid and Gas Service

Don't know why you want an NRV on a PRV discharge line, but I also don't understand why any form on NRV is not suitable for mixed flow. Flow is flow as far as the NRV is concerned and keeps the valve open against either gravity or a weak spring. I've put many NRVs in three phase flow lines without any issue.

Is your PRV in the liquid section or the gas section. It would be unusual to find a PRV able to handle two phase flow as they tend to use orificies and other small gaps which are unsuited to two phase flow.

Noreva or Mokveld disc type fast acting non return valves would be my first choice.
