vibration monitoring in Ipsen Vaccum furnace

vibration monitoring in Ipsen Vaccum furnace

(OP)
Are there a vibrations sensor that can be installed on a motor that is inside a vacuum furnace? We recently had a motor failure and would like to see if there is a way to monitor the changes on this motor. The motor is internal to the vacuum so the sensors will need to with stand the 2 atms of vacuum, a hydrogen enviroment, and changing temps.

Thanks,

wes

RE: vibration monitoring in Ipsen Vaccum furnace

If you don't want to put a vibration switch inside this challenging environment I would suggest monitoring the amp draw of the motor. First determine a standard operating range and then set limits which would send an alert when those limits are breached. Its not a catchall but a 95%er.

RE: vibration monitoring in Ipsen Vaccum furnace

standard accelerometers would work fine in this environment.
There are a great number of people that build 'health monitoring' equipment that include vibration sensors.
I have worked with IRD on vibration projects.
