Attributes in a table

Attributes in a table

Attributes in a table

(OP)
Hi Guys

I'm trying to create a reusable note in the form of a table. I want to add the following attributes in to two of the cells so when I add the table to a drawing it automatically populates the part number and the title from the drawing border <W@DB_PART_DESC> & <W@DB_PART_NAME>, however having created the reuseable table, when I add it to a drawing, the cells are blank, but when you double click to edit the cell, the attribute is still in there. Is what I'm doing possible? Can I do something to make the attribute pick up the part number and title automatically?

Cheers

Si

RE: Attributes in a table

Which font are you using Si? We had some issues with this in our company title block, using the right font (like blockfont or so) could solve your problem.

Best regards,

Michaël.

RE: Attributes in a table

I have tried with Reusable Library in Drafting.
Of couse, first I have to set my custom folder as reusable via Customer Defaults settings.
Then, I have created my table with all the attributes, that I want.
Now, I have stored this table as resuable symbol; Define Custom Symbol
When I open a new drawing, I can place this table on it from a Reusable Library. And all the attributes in the drawing are changed according to the attributes in this new drawing.

Hope this helps.

RE: Attributes in a table

Oh Sorry. I have just seen, that you are doing in NX7.5 and I was testing this in NX8.5. It works in 8.5, but it really doesn't work in 7.5. It just doesn't want to update. Even if I smash the symbol.
The only way, to store the table, that will update, is through Tables pallete. And I belive, that using palette.pax file is something, you already know.
What I have done now is creating a table with sketch elements, add a text (attributes) and save it as reusable symbol. And it worked. I have attached the movie, that shows, how I have done this. The text, that I have entered with Note command could be anything. It was entered just so that I know, which text I have to change with which attribute.

Hope, that this will help.

Thanks Sven

I think I will wait until we upgrade to NX8.5 in a few months time. It's no real hardship. Thanks for trying.

Cheers

Si

RE: Attributes in a table

What about this limitations or are my expectations wrong?
I tested tabular note templates, the attributes master model doesn't update.
What is the way to use tabular notes in Nx 8.5, master mastermodel with attributes.
BTW I cannot define tabular note with attributes as custom symbol.

RE: Attributes in a table

What problems do you have with defining a table as a reusable symbol?
Did you define your own Library via Customer Defaults settings?
  • File->utilities->customer defaults
  • select General/Reuse Library and then click on Symbols Library tab
  • if you work in native NX (no Teamcenter), then type the path to your library folder under 'Symbol Libraries, Native NX' (otherwise, type the path in the field below). The path will look something like this: MySymbols|C:\temp. MySymbols is the name of the library, under which it will be shown in NX. After that, you have to write (or copy/paste) the path of the library folder.
  • click OK and close the Customer Defaults dialogbox.
  • Restart NX.
Now, if you look in NX Reusable Library, you will see your new Library folder under Custom Symbol Library node.
  • click with Right Mouse Button on your library node and select New Folder
  • type in the name of this folder. This will be the actual folder for your symbols
And for the defining of the Table Symbol, see the attached movie.
