Loading large assemblies
Loading large assemblies
(OP)
I'm looking for some tips to help load large assemblies quicker. I realize large is relative, I'm talking in the 500-750 component range.
I need to be able to load an assembly of this size to display at meetings. I use the load options and select the lightweight representations which helps. I was also thinking of using arrangements and creating an arrangement that suppresses some of the inner components that don't show up. Would that be a good way to go about it? Any other tips? Thanks!

RE: Loading large assemblies
And alternative would be to create Component Groups organized in appropriate sets, open the Assembly by 'Loading Structure Only' and then just Toggling the Groups ON and OFF as needed from the Assembly Navigator.

RE: Loading large assemblies
Click with right mouse button (RMB) somewhere in the assembly navigator. Just don't select any part while clicking. In the pop-up menu, you will see Show Component Groups options. Probably, it is unchecked. Select this option, and you will see groups in the top of the assembly navigator. Then you just have to RMB on the group line in the assembly navigator and you can start creating groups.
Arrangements
What problem are you experiencing, while using arrangements? In one movie, you can see, how you can control different distances using assembly arrangements. And in another movie, I have used arrangements to change the parts in the assembly. One version of the assembly has one set of parts, another version has other set of parts.
I hope this helps.

Make sure you have the Assemblies module toggled ON under the NX 'Start' menu.

RE: Loading large assemblies
1. I'm using NX8 and TC8. When I save a bookmark, it looks like the only option is to save a .plmxml file to my local drive. Is there an option to save the bookmark within teamcenter?
2. What happens in the case where I save a bookmark of an assembly, and after saving the bookmark, someone goes in and makes modifications to a sub assembly within that assembly. Do the modifications show up when opening the bookmark? What if components have been added/deleted?
Thanks again for the help!
