HDG, painting, or other coating for wheel loads?

HDG, painting, or other coating for wheel loads?

HDG, painting, or other coating for wheel loads?

(OP)
I need advise on what coating to use for a wide flange beam that will see wheel loads by a small trolley (see attachment).
Loads will be max. 100 kg (1 kN), shared by 4 wheels.

This is for a 4" high beam, with a total length of 4m.
Price for HDG is rather high, so I am looking for a cheaper alternative.
This is for home use in a damp environment (think dog wash).

Anu suggestions? Owner will do painting himself in necessary, so the total amount of hours that goes into it is less relevant.

RE: HDG, painting, or other coating for wheel loads?

Abrasion and wear will be your obstacles. HDG is best, but could use an epoxy (high build, 15 mils or so). Keep in mind that the trolley wheels will wear on the painted surface and remove the paint in short order, most likely.

There are high build epoxies with grit entailed. Link, Link It is meant as non-slip but will work as a wear surface.

Thanks for your suggestions: I hadn't considered epoxy coatings but I will ask our ontact/salesperson to see what he has to offer. Also, thanks for sharing the grit thing. I had absolutely no idea about it also having anti wear properties.
