Multiple electromagnetic clutch

Multiple electromagnetic clutch

(OP)
Hi all,

I'm very new to this topic. Basically I want to arrange a driving member (a toy/printer motor) and a line of 4 driven members (aligned one by one alone a line). Each driven member needs to be able to on/charged or off/discharged randomly. I'm thinking of using electromagnetic clutch for each driven member but don't know how to arrange them. Please help. Any tips/samples are welcomed!

TIA

If it's not achievable, a belt/chain will do? TIA

RE: Multiple electromagnetic clutch

The best thing you can do for yourself is accumulate a pile of printers, especially cheap ones, and take them apart to see how they work. Broken printers may teach you more than working ones, so the exercise shouldn't cost a lot of money.

RE: Multiple electromagnetic clutch

One long drive line connected to the motor and having multiple pinion gears, each driving a ring gear connected to your clutches driving shafts that are parallel to the main drive line.

Oh.... For want of an edit function....

I might point out that until you get to the point of energizing the motor or clutches, this is not an electrical problem, it's mechanical.

Sorry for my limited knowledge to understand above. Can you draw few lines? I'm a computer programmer :)

Banging on a keyboard; free (up to the point of boredom anyway).

Drawings; $150/hour.

Here's a free hint: go down to a friendly old bowling alley and ask to watch the pin resetters from the back side.

Yes, you did. But it's so clear and elegant. You saved my life.
