refering to the thread1103-321896: Certified Technologist Exam Prep

I just finished reading the asme y14.5 cover to cover and I just started reading the study guide I ordered from ASME.org when I realized there another book to buy.

Do I REALLY need to buy both the study guide and Y14.5.2 - 2000??? I don't mean to be cheap but I paid good money for the standard and the study guide to realize there is the body of knowledge... It starting to look like my wedding: just as you think budget is under control, some weird fee's keep appearing for some reason...

Thanks for your help.

Gérald

RE: certified technologist exam prep (continued...)

It is available for free when you download the exam application off the ASME website. It will have the body of knowledge but I don't think it's labeled Y14.5.2.

Y14.5.2 is a separate document from the "applicant information" brochure on the ASME website. And I would say that you don't need the Y14.5.2; it goes over the background rules for certification, etc. The brochure itself is great, though, because of the Body of Knowledge that powerhound mentioned -- that's very important to use as your checklist for studying.

The other book you have might be the one by Nickolaisen, and that's a great help too, I think.
