Software for Stainless Steel Design

Software for Stainless Steel Design

(OP)
Anybody know of any structural engineering software that will do code checks per ASCE 8 (stainless steel)? I'm talking about full-blown program like STAAD, RISA-3D or SAP 2000, which don't have it. I've only been able to find one called CFS but this does not do analysis so it is way underpowered for what I need.

RE: Software for Stainless Steel Design

CFS will do a limited amount of simple beam calculations with multiple spans of equal loading. I use it for cold formed steel design.

RE: Software for Stainless Steel Design

What's the design code you're looking for? ASCE-8? If so, then my impression is that the design standard is very close to the AISI cold formed spec. I'd probably start out just using that with RISA (or whichever program you prefer). Then I'd pull out a couple of critical members and try to run through it with ASCE-8 hand calcs (or CFS's stainless code check calcs) to see how much different it comes out.

I'll look into AISI. Still, my preference would be software that will actually use ASCE-8. Sounds like it doesn't exist.
