i got my PE before NCEES registration. do all states now require NCEES registration if one wants to apply by comity?

RE: any PE here not registered with NCEES

No

RE: any PE here not registered with NCEES

But some states do. I finally went through the pain and got it done. It's tedious, but I used it twice since and it did make the applications much easier.

RE: any PE here not registered with NCEES

I don't think so because I recently endorsed some applications on NY & NJ forms.

I agree that it's worthwhile if you're planning on obtaining multiple licenses. I signed up with NCEES 20 years ago; although it's a pain as Jed says, it did make the process easy.

Thanks for posting because I forgot that my renewal is due by the end of the month.

RE: any PE here not registered with NCEES

I guess each State has different renewal dates.

RE: any PE here not registered with NCEES

I don't have NCEES registration, I'm not sure what it is about. It looks as though it handles the qualification for, and the exams themselves. it looks as though they wouldn't like me since I don't have a degree, I did earn my license through exams though, I had to put in an extra eight years of pertinent experience in lieu. I took mine in the first year when PA switched to the national exam. It was interesting, I took the PE on a calm and peaceful Friday and the EIT the next day when all hell was breaking loose with people carrying suitcases full of books, There were a lot of students but also a lot of older guys who had past the PE but needed the EIT. I did pass both first shot.

RE: any PE here not registered with NCEES

All NCEES does is allow one to set up a registration with them with all the typical information required of the various US states for engineering licensure.

They do not license anything but only serve as a short-cut to get info to the states quickly if you need to get licensed somewhere fast.
They also provide a model law engineer status that tells the states that you have the typical 4 year accredited degree, four years of experience under a PE, and have passed the typical exams.

RE: any PE here not registered with NCEES

No NCEES here. I've been thinking about it long enough that some of my experience will be difficult to verify. Supervisors leave, forget, and die. And I need to collect a few more states. But then, I also have to take the new exam, since the states have or will shortly stop accepting the "old" Structural ! & 2 exams.

i got my PE a few years ago and i thought NCEES registration is new.
but bridgebuster signed up with NCEES 20 yrs ago. so i guess this has been around for a long time.

RE: any PE here not registered with NCEES

I don't have my NCEES registration. I was thinking about getting it a few years ago but, at the time, to look at the application was $300.00 so I said no. I didn't put much time into trying to see if I could find the application elsewhere but became occupied with something else and didn't bother.

A better question is who is certified by the SECB?

RE: any PE here not registered with NCEES

I was registered years ago in up to 11 states, but never used NCEES in doing so.

Didn't know that. I knew the 3 west coast states will probably stop accepting them.....but they had state specific exams anyway. I was kind of hoping some of the other states (that didn't have any SE requirement before) will still recognize the old SE I & II. (NCEES did when I got that MLSE deal added to my record.)
