DCS screens

(OP)
Hi everybody,

I'm wondering if all the interlocks i have in P&IDs must be shown in the DCS scrrens.

Thanks in advance.

RE: DCS screens

If I were the end user, I would want to see them. Having said that I've been away from the process industry too long (in machine design last 15 years) to know what they are presently doing.

RE: DCS screens

I wouldn't show them on the DCS main graphics (the ones that may represent your P&IDs). But if a valve or motor is interlocked, the user should be able to open the valve or motor faceplate and determine why it is interlocked from the faceplate (popup window that usually contains the command buttons...open/close...start/stop...).

I recommend a text description of the interlock, not the code, as most users can't read the code.

RE: DCS screens

Some of DCS have the built-in capability to show its logic on operation screen. Rather than creating the new graphic solely for logic display purposes, it is maybe simpler to just provide the link from the main graphic to this built-in display.
