SmartPlug Experiences

SmartPlug Experiences

SmartPlug Experiences

(OP)
Does anybody have experience using a SmartPlug (or similar competitor version)?
Background info:
1) Pipeline is 20in subsea gas export line
2) Operating Pressure = 3000psi
3) Cleaning and gauging runs will be completed before using SmartPlug to make sure pipeline is clean, hydrocarbon free and has no geometric issues that could cause a stuck tool.

I have some recent experience in pipeline pigging and hydrotesting, but my latest project is looking at using a SmartPlug to isolate the pipeline for subsea repairs. I have not worked with this type of isolation before so I was looking for any experiences folks may have had in the past (good or bad) with this type of isolation. We will be working closely with the vendor to iron out all the details, but the purchase order has not been issued so I can not approach them directly just yet. I was hoping to get some information beforehand so that I can hit the ground running and have a good starting point for any issues that are common once the purchase order goes thru.

Cheers,
Kat
