Subtracting a Body from a Body
Subtracting a Body from a Body
(OP)
Hello,
I'm using Solidworks 2012 and was wondering how to subtract a solid body from a solid body.
Details:
I have opened a step file in Solidworks and have created another body (square block) using the extrude tool. Now I want to subtract the step file body from the square block so that the square block has an imprint of the step file body. The step file is of a plastic compoenent and the square block is to become a nest for the component to sit in.
Cheers

RE: Subtracting a Body from a Body
Then, in your feature tree, you should find the Solid Bodies (2) folder. Expand it & select both bodies, then RMB Combine Bodies. Subtract is your Operation Type, selecting your extrude block as the main body & the STEP body as the body to combine.
