Spline to polyline not working

Spline to polyline not working

Spline to polyline not working

(OP)
Hi, I am trying to import some geometry into DraftSight. The geometry started as an SVG, I converted it to a DWG in CorelDraw and it opens fine in DraftSight. But the lines open as Splines. I understand from the help files and tutorials that I should be able to just select the spline, do a PEDIT and it wil convert to a polyline - but it doesn't - everytime i click on the spline I just get the message "Specify Polyline". I have also tried creating a spline from scratch and trying the conversion or creating a polyline and trying to "JOIN" the spline to it - no dice. I just cannot seem to convert the splines to polylines. Am I missing something?

Best James

RE: Spline to polyline not working

James, try saving the file to R12 or earlier. Then reopen and try again. Post your file here and I can try this too. We need to do the same thing here for laser cutting imported files from time to time. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. You might also check your settings for precision when using pedit to get the best fit, and not too short of line segments for cutting.

Hope this helps. Diego

RE: Spline to polyline not working

Hi,
POLYLINE and SPLINE are two different entities in DraftSight. You can edit or convert polyline to spline (command PEDIT - Spline, or Fit), but still it is polyline. Spline can not be converted. You can edit it only drag data points, or fit tolerance. You're probably quite understood the description in Help.
