I'm trying to find out the Australian standard equivalent to either AE275B (European reference) or the American A283D-A36.

I am not familiar with AE275B, but I am familiar with ASTM A 36 and ASTM A 283.  It appear as though AS/NZS 3678 is the equivalent standard to ASTM A 283.  I am not sure about exact grades specified by this standard.  I performed a search using "structural steel" at the Standards Australia website, and the results can be obtained by clicking on the following link:
