Is It Still Acceptable To Use British Standards BS8110 and BS5950
Is It Still Acceptable To Use British Standards BS8110 and BS5950
(OP)
Can anybody tell me if it is still acceptable to use British Standards that have been withdrawn and been superseded by Euro Codes.
Does anybody know for example the transition period from from BS8110 to EC2 for concrete? Must EC2 be used not for all new concrete structures?

British Standards are still referenced in Approved Document A of the Building Regulations. Therefore if your brief is to comply with Building Regulations then you can still use them.
We are increasingly finding our Clients are asking for Eurocode Design though, particularly for public ally funded projects.
One other thing to check is the terms of your PI cover. They sometimes get nervous if you are designing to standards which effectively are unsupported by BSI.
