Tank capicity

Tank capicity

Tank capicity

(OP)
I need the capacity of a fire tank which is only use for 4 nos. hose reel each hose reel inside diameter is 25mm and outside diameter is 34mm. The length of the hose reel is 30 meters. Please tell me the capacity for both 30 minutes and 60 minutes.

RE: Tank capicity

Look in NFPA 14. It has all the answers to your questions.

RE: Tank capicity

What is your required flow rate per minute? Then just multiply. You need to be able to determine that flow rate. If you are unable to determine the flow rate on your own, you may want to contact a local contracting or engineering firm to assist you in that endeavor.

RE: Tank capicity

The sizes of 25mm and 34mm are small hoses, so is that fire truck to fight brush fires?

RE: Tank capicity

As per NFPA 14, the demand for Class II hose shall be 100 gpm, even if you have 4 nos. of hose connection, still the minimum required demand would be 100 gpm, and with the same standard, you will found out that the requirement for Hose Connection shall be 30 mins, thus, 100 gals/min x 30 mins would require you an effective capacity at 3000 gals, however, please be noted that this is the effective tank capacity and not the gross capacity. So the next thing you will do is to consider the effective height which is from the vortex plate up to the bottom of the overflow drain.
