I have a long and narrow concrete channel, fully reinforced with contraction / construction joints spaced at 4m. The joints can be either sawcut or construction joint between two pours. Assuming the contractor wants to avoid sawcutting which will be difficult, how long minimum would we need to wait between two consecutive pours? Concrete is typical 4,000 psi structural concrete.

RE: time between pours

For me, it's after I have finished the first beer.

FYI, for that type of pour, 1 day is just fine.

a day to finish a beer?

since concrete production needs to be mobilized at least twice, I was thinking several days or even up to a week. Checkerboard every other 4m section and a few days later, infill to complete the slab. Then do the same for the walls. Am I just being too conservative?

Isn't the English language just wonderful? Good catch...

RE: time between pours

I would think you could place each adjacent section the next day.
