Solenoid valve

Solenoid valve

(OP)
Hi,
Our supplier has offered a 240Vac soleniod valve when the voltage should have been 120V,1ph,60Hz. I have spoken directly with the valve supplier and they say they have a 110V,1ph,60Hz solenoid. Just to ask if this would work with the 120V? assuming it has appropriate tolerance.

Thanks

RE: Solenoid valve

You seem to be talking about two different suppliers and three different coils, none fully described here, nor is your definition of the verb 'work'.

All I can suggest is 'assume nothing'.

RE: Solenoid valve

I am always suspicious of anything rated at the non-standard voltage of 110 V, 60 Hz. Possibly low quality from China or a literacy challenged salesman who misread 120 Volts as 110 Volts.

Good point, though I think the terms 110V and 120V meaning standard receptacle voltage still tend to be used interchangeably, especially if your up there in years.
Liamc85, always double check the specs and get a datasheet. Look at the voltage ranges, both pull in and drop out, as well as current / power draw and verify that it is suitable. You will also want to verify the contact ratings against the type of load you will be running (e.g. DC, AC, or AC Motor (inductive)).
