Where is the best location for a geogrid under slab on grade(not open to traffic)

I will be placing a slab on grade on a swelling clay[ PI > 45 but swelling percentage is about 1.5 to 1.7 and seasonal water variation is around 1m (3ft) and I can beat the swelling pressure of about 0.2 ton/ft2 (2 metric tons/m2)]. The owner wants a geogrid and I am planning to place it right at the middle of the subbase.

Given that this is not a pavement subject to vehicular loads and I am running out of time, I think this is enough.

Should I research further?

In my opinion you can put it anywhere you want...it will not be effective anyway. I would make sure the joints are sealed and deal with shear induced by edge swelling

+1 to Ron's advice. I just can't figure out the purpose of the geogrid.
