Weld super duplex to API 2W Gr 60 thickness 65mm

(OP)
Hi Gents
we want to weld API 2W Gr 60, thickness 65mm with Suplex duplex UNS 32760 thickness 65mm. Follow recommend in some guideline book, API 2W Gr60 thickness 65mm must be do Min Prehear 150 degree. Super duplex Max interpass 100 degree. So funny question, Can we weld super duplex to API 2W Gr60.

RE: Weld super duplex to API 2W Gr 60 thickness 65mm

You can but you will need to increase preheat and interpass temperature with an inevitable loss of some of the super duplex alloy corrosion resistance. It is assumed that the need for maximum corrosion resistance at the materials' interface is not required. Weld with ERNiCrMo-3 or ERNiCrMo-4 or similar nickel base welding filler metal. You could also use an intermediary material between the super duplex and the 2W materials.
