Calculating volume change in soil????

Calculating volume change in soil????

Calculating volume change in soil????

(OP)
I am performing a variety of test for a sample of soil and was hoping someone could tell me how to calculate percent volume change in soil based on shrink and swell results...

RE: Calculating volume change in soil????

Go back to basic weight-volume relationships of soil. For shrink/swell tests, the volume is usually constrained in the lateral and one vertical direction (the bottom of the sample). Therefore, the results will be linear, not volumetric.

RE: Calculating volume change in soil????

does this relate to calculating earthwork quantities or the shrink-swell performance of subgrades for foundations, etc.? What "variety of tests" have you performed?
