TRUMPF 3030 Cut Quality

(OP)
I am working on my Trumpf L3030 4kw machine. We are trying to cut 5/8" steel, grade 50, O2 cut. When we cut a test piece, simple 5x5 square with 3" diameter circle in center, part is beautiful. Then when we go to cut the actual part, it does not look as good.Small slots weld in due to all the heat I believe. Trumpf recommended using small contour on the internal slots, it worked but incredibly slow (2in/min), we programmed with medium contour. We cut these on a 5kw laser no issues. If we change to small contour it will kill our runt time and profitablilty.

We also have, what we describe as heat flickers in the material.

Thanks in advance for any input.

RE: TRUMPF 3030 Cut Quality

Have you considered programming so that it does all the slots first then comes back and does all external contours? Are you pre-piercing the slots?
