Advice for EI looking to get PE

Advice for EI looking to get PE

(OP)
Hello everyone,

I was wondering if anyone could share some advice about getting the mechanical PE. I graduated a year and a half ago with a degree in mechanical engineering and just recently passed the FE. I am currently working for a commercial Insulated Metal Panel company doing R&D for new products and some work here and there under Civil PEs with intentions on eventually sitting for my Mechanical PE. So I was wondering... What do mechanical PEs do? Is it really worth it to get the PE in mechanical for the position I am in? Does anyone know if doing work under Civil PE counts towards the requirement for the Mechanical PE or would I have to find a mechanical guy to work under?

Any info would be great! I really appreciate it.

-Taylor
