Grounded Model, what to do?

Grounded Model, what to do?

Grounded Model, what to do?

(OP)
I'm using DOF springs in my model and I know these elements can generate weird loads in model due to grounding if elements are not aligned with node output CSys.

I have such a model right now and I'm trying to figure out an efficient way to find the source of this problem other than visually inspecting every DOF Spring.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

W

RE: Grounded Model, what to do?

Dear W,
In fact, if you use CELASi elements and the geometry isn’t aligned properly, internal constraints may be induced. Instead, the CBUSH element contains all the features of the CELASi elements plus it avoids the internal constraint problem. Then, you can use the CBUSH element as a replacement for scalar element, joining any two grid points by user-specified spring rates, in a convenient manner without regard to the location or the displacement coordinate systems of the connected grid points. This method eliminates the need to avoid internal constraints when modeling.

Best regards,
Blas.

RE: Grounded Model, what to do?

Dear W,
In FEMAP V11 you have a macro under "CUSTOM TOOLS > Meshing > Cretae Grounded CBUSH elements" that you can use to automaticaly replace your CELASi by CBUSH elements, very powerful and convenient.
Best regards,
Blas.
