Vibrations from Vehicular Traffic

Vibrations from Vehicular Traffic

Vibrations from Vehicular Traffic

(OP)

I got a question yesterday from a client where they were concerned about vibrations induced from vehicular traffic near a new structure that is in the design phase. I’ve handled a lot of vibration problems in my time, but they’ve almost all been unbalanced forces from machinery (so I do have charts that show acceptable levels for humans; only problem is: I don’t know what kind of movements/accelerations/velocities come from this type of loading).

So if anyone can suggest a reference: I’d appreciate it. I have AASHTO’s specification for bridges (16th & 17th edition) and I didn’t see anything in there (I may have missed something).

Thanks.
