Touch-Up of Galvanized A325 TC Bolts

Touch-Up of Galvanized A325 TC Bolts

(OP)
So I'm on a job where all bolted connections are being made with A325 galvanized TC bolts. In the past, I've seen it as common practice to cold galv the ends of the bolts after the spline is snapped. However, I can't find anything in RCSC, AISC, or the site specs requireing that particular touch up. All I have is a line in the spec saying something along the lines of "any damaged to galvanized members should be touched up using high zinc primer...". So, is the touching up of the ends of galvanized TC bolts a general requirements? Am I correct that logically it's a 'damaged member' as shearing the spline shears the galvanizing, and thusly negates the majority of the purpose of galvanizing? Or, am I just going over board here? Chapter and verse would be very helpfull with either conclusion.

RE: Touch-Up of Galvanized A325 TC Bolts

There is no requirement for the touch up; however, there is nothing to stop you from touching up if you choose.
