Brain Electrode Simulation

Brain Electrode Simulation

Brain Electrode Simulation

(OP)
Hi everybody,

I am in charge of mechanical approach with Ansys workbench in order to analyse the rigidity, flexibility and behavior of a probe inserted into the brain. I am a beginner with ansys, and I want to study the displacement of the probe during its introduction in the brain, indeed the electrode must reach a specific point in the brain and should not move in this region.

I have already modeled my probe (a gold cylinder of 10,2 cm of length and 3.5 cm of diameter) and its insulation that surrounded on 10 cm (in Zirconium).
The brain is modeled by a cylinder of 20 cm of length an 10 cm of diameter (density, young modulus and Poisson ratio were taken in literature).

My problem arrive after meshing, when I applied a displacement of probe in the direction of the brain I have 2 situations:

-either I have this error message: "Current result file may not contain requested result data . Please clear the solution and solve again."

-or the overall progress solution is never completed. (I let the computer work all the night, the loading bar had not changed)

As I have said upper, I am a beginner with Ansys, and I don't know how result this problem. Do you think that my computer has not enough memory or I make a mistake somewhere.

Thank you very much for your answer,
Have a nice day,

Mathieu
