Elegant approach to model an ID that changes across a 90¦ elbow

Elegant approach to model an ID that changes across a 90¦ elbow

In NX 7.5 I am struggling to find a way to model this. I have tried using swept, variational sweep, and through curve and through curve mesh and can't quite get it. The attached screen capture shows a section view of how the ID of an elbow fitting changes around the corner. http://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=7...
Has anybody got some tips?

OK, attached is a file which represents the 'core' (the inside) of the Elbow. Just build the outside of the elbow around this body and then subtract the core.

Great, you have a model........but can you ever build it that way? Are you planning a core that somehow gets "melted-out"? Sure will have a hard time machining that ID blend.

To the Toolmaker, your nice little cartoon drawing of your glass looks cool, but your solid model sucks. Do you want me to fix it, or are you going to take all week to get it back to me so I can get some work done?

Since fittings like that are often created as small casting; yes, the 'core' could get "melted-out" as it were.

Here's another example. The supplied image looks like a typical "2D drawing-design", -there is no information whatsoever on how the transition should look or be manufactured. I used John's initial Sketch as the input and imagined a ball-nose-drill on the large side. then "break edge" - Blend 0.1 ...

Thanks John. Over the weekend it dawned on me that a bridge curve might be the key for the side profile.
