See-Thru Shell View Command Not Activated (NX 7.5)

See-Thru Shell View Command Not Activated (NX 7.5)

See-Thru Shell View Command Not Activated (NX 7.5)

(OP)
My favorite view in NX occurs whenever I try to make a hole. This is my favorite view by far. I suspect that this view is the "See-Thru Shell" view. Unfortunately, this view button is not activated in my NX. Any ideas?

Thanks.

RE: See-Thru Shell View Command Not Activated (NX 7.5)

Actually what you're seeing when you create a Hole in NX 7.5 is closer to 'See-Thru Layers', but that aside, I'm not sure what you mean by "Unfortunately, this view button is not activated in my NX.". Could you provide a bit more information about what the situation is when you can't access this option?

BTW, if you like the display behavior you're now seeing when creating Holes in NX 7.5, you'll be very happy when you do your next upgrade since starting with NX 8.5, we've implemented a similar 'switching into See-Thru mode' whenever you're adding a feature, which supports 'preview', to an existing body, like when creating not only Holes, but also Blends, Chamfers, etc.

RE: See-Thru Shell View Command Not Activated (NX 7.5)

OK, I see what you're saying.

In NX 7.5, you have to have already turned-on 'See-Thru' display mode before you're able to change the display style. So unless you're in 'See-Thru' the style options are 'grayed-out'. This clumsy situation was corrected starting with NX 8.0 where the options are always active and you can set which style that you would like BEFORE you actually enter the 'See-Thru' display mode.

John,

Sorry for my ignorance, but is there any way I can turn on 'See-Thru' display mode then?

Thanks for your help.

OK, I found the 'See-Thru' command in the command finder, and the button now works. But how do I toggle back to the old mode?

RE: See-Thru Shell View Command Not Activated (NX 7.5)

Just select the 'See-Thru' item a second time as it's an ON/OFF 'toggle'.

Great, I just figured this out. Added the See-Thru command to my toolbar.

Thanks John.
