changing the battery capacity of 110 battery charger
changing the battery capacity of 110 battery charger
(OP)
hello
I have a 110v battery charger, in first time it used for a 720 AH 110v battery , now I would change the battery by other type 110v 500 AH
the charger is firstly configured in floating for the 110 v ,720 AH battery,
my question is : can use this charger for the 110v 500AH without modify in floating parametres or I must do the modification?
best regards

Hard to tell faycalleroi. If the charger was setup to charge the 720 at the 720's maximum allowed charge rate then you should not use it charge a 500 without somehow adjusting it. If, on the other hand, the charger is just an X ampere charger with only a moderate current capability that didn't need to be limited for the 750 then it might be just fine for the 500.
Do you have any specs on the charger?

I agree with Keith, the larger charger is likely to charge at too high a rate for the proposed battery, but generally chargers that size have an output current limit which can be adjusted within a range.

after reading a book "power calculation handbook" stationary battery I have found
maybe a good thing : we can use the formula 0.2*C5 Amps where C5 is AH capacity of battery and we this we can find the cuurent of charging for 5 hours, is it true?
thanks

However, faycalleroi, you are in a position to know quite a lot else, in that you know or can find out who made the batteries and who made the charger, and you can get recommendations from those manufacturers that are specific to the make and model of each item, information so far unrevealed to us.
The AH capacity suggests that the batteries are large and therefore expensive, so you would be well served to get your information from the people who know them best, rather than from a book or from a website, even a great one.
