Pigging for CRA clad pipeline
Pigging for CRA clad pipeline
(OP)
Anybody have experience on pigging for CRA clad pipeline? Currently my understanding is that the actual procedure is the same as pigging of a carbon steel but the pig type need to be compatible with the clad but is such pig available? Our line is cladded with 316L and the purpose of the pigging is for liquid managment. Type of pig to be used is by-pass.
Appreciate the inputs.

RE: Pigging for CRA clad pipeline
For CRA, I try to avoid metal parts like shafts, bolts, and brushes. The turbo pigs get the same sweep efficiency as a mandrel pig. I haven't been as happy with poly-coated foam pigs because after the second run you are starting to lose foam through tears. I've run the same turbo pig once a week for several years and while it starts looking kind of sketchy after the 10th or 20th run, it still seals and still works.
