Configuration Specific Text Block

Configuration Specific Text Block

(OP)
- not just a few words - almost a paragraph. Just want to know if it is possible to make a configuration-specific text block? If it is, don't worry about it, I'm a big boy - will figure it out - not looking for the solution, just whether it's possible.

RE: Configuration Specific Text Block

Since I transitioned over to SW from Autocad I haven't seen much purpose in the SW layers, but... can they be turned on and off (or suppressed) by configurations? If so, put your note on a layer that is suppressed in select configurations.

RE: Configuration Specific Text Block

You can create configuration specific custom properties. Note_1 in config A can have different text than Note_1 in config B. There are probably other ways, but this is the simplest that has come to my mind.

Yeah Updraft, how about configuration specific paragraphs?

RE: Configuration Specific Text Block

Type it up in Notepad and paste it in the Value of the Property... as long as SW does not have a character limit in the property it should work.

RE: Configuration Specific Text Block

I do not know what the text limit is in a custom property. Does anyone know the answer to that?

Another way you could do this with no size limitations is to type your text in a sketch (preferably name the sketches appropriately) and then use suppression states to control their appearance. This does have several drawbacks, such as you would have to have separate sketches for each text note and you would have to have sketches visible. However, it would certainly work with configurations.

RE: Configuration Specific Text Block

I believe the limit for custom properties is 1024 characters. At least that's what it was in 2011.
