Forged Flaged Y-Strainers

Forged Flaged Y-Strainers

Forged Flaged Y-Strainers

(OP)
Are Flaged Y-Strainers are totally forged in one shot from the foundry or the forged body is welded later to the forged flanges? Pls reply my dear friends urgently to close my PO....

RE: Forged Flaged Y-Strainers

Cast parts are made in a foundry.
Forged parts are made in a forge.

WRT your question, what are your customer's requirements?

RE: Forged Flaged Y-Strainers

I would think that could depend on the manufacturer. I don't think there's any requirement that a forged valve has to be a single piece forging.

RE: Forged Flaged Y-Strainers

What are your pressure, temp and corrosion allowance for the strainer?

Most strainers are made by Casting and Fabricated

Casting Strainer => The whole body are made by casting

Fabricated Strainer => The body are by pipe and fittings. The end body (the flanges & blinds) are by forging. Then they are welded (fabricated) together.

Another type of strainer under special requirements (such as high pressure), some strainer manufacturer made by Machining a metal bar to be the strainer body (no welding parts from fabricated and no porosity from casting)

So i never heard of forge stainer.

If your pressure and temp is not critical, just stick on the casting or fabricated type strainer. I think in your case, your client intend on fabricated type strainer (which some parts are made by forging).

my requirement is #900 RF Strainer Dual rated. Due to delivery constrain im not able to go for cast type.. i have submitted a deviation request to client to use forged/cast body with welded flanges to secure delivery. if i go with this option what are the things i should take care of?.. pls advise. thanks mates for your valuable replies...
