RE: underatanding asme code

Try www.asme.org and look for courses.
ASME also has a lot of how-to and helpful books on their design. See their website.
Then there are the CASTI guide books. Then there are ASME PTB standards ... thatll keep you you quiet for a while :).

RE: underatanding asme code

The CASTI books are excellent because they provide an overview of the Code. Also, look for companion guides related to Section I and Section VIII. At some point, you may want to volunteer, and if you do, you will begin to understand how the code functions and learn how to develop consensus among your peers.

Work for an insurance company that is willing to train you as a fired and unfired pressure vessel inspector but first you should polish up on your writing because if you sent a resume with a cover letter in the fashion that you presented you OP and replies, I doubt that any insurance company will want to interview you.

RE: underatanding asme code

For understanding ASME section I - Power boilers, I would recommend the book by Marty Bernstien and Loyd Yoder, titled "Power Boilers- A guide to section I of the ASME boiler and pressure vessel code" ASME press.
