How do I mesh C beam?

How do I mesh C beam?

How do I mesh C beam?

(OP)
Hi guys,

I am new here. I have a problem in meshing a group of C Beams imported from Inventor.I have tried to mesh it as a SOLID but I think it should be wrong. How do I mesh them? And if the beams are combine together like what is in the picture, do I mesh them individually then put them together or is it mesh able as a group?

RE: How do I mesh C beam?

Hello!,
Create MIDSURFACES and mesh with Shell CQUAD4 elements, forget at all to mesh with SOLID CTETRA elements. Please note when meshing with SOLID elements you need to have a minimun of two elements in the thickness to account for stress gradient, then the result will be MILLIONs of nodes and elements. Ask for training, this is CAE and you need a minimum of both FEA & Engineering knowledge to understand what you are doing, OK?.

Best regards,
Blas.
