Toolbox elements edit

(OP)
Hello,

I often use toolbox components and it turns out I often observe an undesired behavior. Once I have inserted a component from the toolbox I normally can right click on it in the feature tree and click "Edit Toolbox Component".

Now it turns out that in some cases (I have not been able to identify which exactely), solidworks asks me to record a separate part for the toolbox and no longer references the element in the toolbox but the recorded instance. Because the component is no longer referenced from the toolbox I can no longer right click and "Edit Toolbox Component".

Any idea of what is going on?

Thanks,

Antoine.

PS: I use SW 2012 x64 SP3

RE: Toolbox elements edit

Have you checked the User Settings of your Toolbox? Sounds like the option of Create Configurations for TB parts as been switched... check the settings and post an image of those settings.

Another thought is that some of this could be caused by the change in 2012 when they removed all Access Databases for Toolbox parts, but that's a guess.
