Repair on vessels with PWHT

Repair on vessels with PWHT

Repair on vessels with PWHT

(OP)
Hi all

Can anybody help with my question below:

If Sec 8.1.6.4.2 (Preheat or Controlled Deposition Welding Methods as Alternatives to Postweld Heat Treatment) of API 510 was followed instead of doing a PWHT for a repair on a vessel that was originally stress relieved, will it change the vessel’s HT status?

Thanks,

RE: Repair on vessels with PWHT

No. The vessel had been originally heat treated for ASME Code compliance. What happens to the vessel in service is another code's responsibility - NBIC or API 510, and ASME does not care after the vessel is in service.

I mean if we need to remove the HT stampe on the Nameplate and if we need to re-register with ABSA.

RE: Repair on vessels with PWHT

Doing a repair to a Code Vessel in Alberta requires working with ABSA prior to performing the repair. They'll guide you through the process.
