Flat roof?

Just wondering can we have a flat roof in api 620.

RE: Flat roof?

Sorry for double posting like this, but Im just stumped designing a flat roof.

Is there are T1 and T2 for flat plates? I was thinking it was just normal stress on there.

RE: Flat roof?

API-620 doesn't really have provisions for a flat roof. In vessel design, a flat end would be treated like a blind flange and would be unreasonably thick for most applications (designed in bending rather than as a membrane). A low-slope cone would be more common.

RE: Flat roof?

Typically, designers jump from a API-650 tank design to an API-620 tank based on a higher pressure.

API-650 tanks can be designed only to a maximum of 2.5 psig.

Flat roofed tanks are best suited for atmospheric applications.

What is your maximum operating pressure ?
