Yield/Tensile to Shear Strength

Yield/Tensile to Shear Strength

I need the shear strength of Inconel 625. What ratio of either yield or tensile can I use?
Thanks much.

RE: Yield/Tensile to Shear Strength

ArtDe:
For most structural steels the yield stress in shear is approx. equal to Fy/(sq.rt. of 3) or about .58Fy. This comes from the Hencky-von Mises yield criterion. Testing indicates ultimate shear strength is in the range of 2/3 to 3/4 of tensile strength. Why not check with your material supplier?

RE: Yield/Tensile to Shear Strength

Energy of Distortion Theory, 0.577 X yield strength.

Cockroach

RE: Yield/Tensile to Shear Strength

As for the above answers, do either HHvM (Huber-Hencky von Mises) or Guest-Tresca criteria apply for inconel? I am not too sure about that...
