material selection in sulfuric acid

i need to select material for pump shaft in sulfuric acid at 98% concentration and 120 C. i would like to know any one has experience on chrome plating coating on this application or maybe kindly suggest another solution.

RE: material selection in sulfuric acid

First off; review information on pumps suitable for sulfuric acid service

http://www.peerlesspump.com/fire_pumps_appnews07.a...

Second, review information on suitable materials and the effects of velocity. Ni-base alloy would be required given flow induced effects on material performance and 120 deg C.

Third, chrome plating would not be recommended for this application.

thanks, its so helpful!

RE: material selection in sulfuric acid

Get a hold of the MTI Material Selector series MS-1.
It is the best Sulfuric guide that there is.
