Stress corrosion cracking

Stress corrosion cracking

Stress corrosion cracking

(OP)
Hi all!

Could you please advice me where I can find the list of liquids which cause stress corrosion cracking for some materials?
I'm interested in data for steell AISI 321, A 516-55, C1020, A 105 Gr1.
I'll be grateful for any link to a standard or other guiding document.
Thank you in advance.

RE: Stress corrosion cracking

Are you asking because you are a student, or are you an engineer with a legitimate need?

RE: Stress corrosion cracking

Please do your own internet search. There are many reference books for limited review and free web sites that deal with stress corrosion cracking mechanisms and causes.

RE: Stress corrosion cracking

In fact ASM publishes books on SCC that cover either specific alloy groups (steels, stainless, Cu, and so on) or cover the subject in general.

I'm an engineer. I know basics of stress corrosion cracking, but I'm looking for a certain list of liquids whick causes SCC in above mentioned materials.
I read some articles with discussion what could increase corrosion and what could decrease it. But what I would like to find is the certain data about certain materials, i.e. standards, rules which clearly state what is acceptable and what is not, because I will use this data for pressure vessels design.

RE: Stress corrosion cracking

So you want to use information gathered off of the internet for pressure vessel design criteria??!
You need to take some time, purchase the necessary books, codes and standards and then take the time to LEARN this subject. SCC is not something that lends itself to a cookbook approach.

RE: Stress corrosion cracking

You can try Volume 11 of ASM Handbook (Failure Analysis), which has a good summary. The Corrosion volumes of the handbook (Volume 13) also cover SCC environments. I use an ASM book Stress-Corrosion Cracking for more detailed information - not sure of its availability as it was published in 1992.

I suppose to find the right link here. Sure, I'll purchase necessary standards and books.

RE: Stress corrosion cracking

Under ASME VIII, the Owner is responsible for corrosive service design.

The Owner is the customer or the person who gives me technical task for vessel design?
