Compressed air system - What is this?

The attached photo is of a compressed air system. What is the brass-colored fitting?

Thanks.

RE: Compressed air system - What is this?

Looks like either an injection nozzle (eductor type) as it appears to be a screwed 1/4" nipple. Either that or come sort of non return valve would be my guess.

Is that an open hole facing the camera? This could be for some sort of instrument probe (temperature?, pressure tapping?)

My motto: Learn something new every day

Also: There's usually a good reason why everyone does it that way

Check valve.

Best to you,

Goober Dave

Oh, and you're right LittleInch -- that hole is generally a 1/8" FNPT gauge port.

Ahh, a check valve. That makes a lot of sense. Thanks for the help!
