Solidworks EPDM 2013 blues - Anyone else losing their work?

Solidworks EPDM 2013 blues - Anyone else losing their work?

Solidworks EPDM 2013 blues - Anyone else losing their work?

(OP)
About 6 months ago our company bought Solidworks EPDM. We have 2 users on-site and, at the time, another off-site. We set up a very simple vault. Occasionally, but much too often, we find changes we made in S/W files disappear the next time we open a file!!! It's a simple procedure.... open/check-out a file, edit it and save it/check-in. But the next time it's opened the changes are gone!! There's proof of the change in the form of a saved PDF file. We checked to make sure we have opened the latest version. Checked everything we can think of! Our re-seller is very politely telling us we must be forgetting to save the Solidworks files but I have a hard time believing that. If such were the case, we would have had the same problem long before installing EPDM. It doesn't happen all the time but even 5% is unacceptable. I've been using Solidworks since '98. I'm not a total idiot (just partly). And it's happening to our other users as well. Extremely aggravating.

Anyone else having this problem??? or any idea what we're doing wrong?

Seems to me you are opening the files from a different folder? How are you opening them, from a server/local folder, or checking out from PDM each time?

We have a folder structure on the server we open/check-out from. The files are generally saved to the folder from which they were opened. thanks

Big break this morning! I asked our IT people if there was anything unusual going on with the SQL server. They looked and found a massive number of errors. Apparently there was a password issue and no red flags unless one thought to look. Hmmm...
Anyway, it appears this could be the cause. I'm crossing my fingers

It's too bad that your reseller didn't suggest SQL errors as a possible cause of your problem instead of just blowing you off.

If your specific issue appears in SW's problems database, your reseller should be apologizing profusely. If it doesn't, they should be writing it up. In either case, they should be on your site.

I was thinking the same thing, MH. This is a normally excellent reseller I've been dealing with for many years. Only been a problem since we got EPDM. I called a more familiar contact there this morning just to vent a little. I also invited him in to look at our installation. I think I'll share your comments when he comes in. Thanks

I hope you get more respect from you reseler and SolidWorks than I do.

I appears the latest version has damage 30,000 files and it is my fault.
