Passivation of Nickel Braze

Passivation of Nickel Braze

Passivation of Nickel Braze

(OP)
Hello.

I have an assembly that is Stainless Steel 316L and BS S130 brazed together with Nickel Braze Ni 620 (BNi-2), composition below.

Following a salt spray test, small areas of corrosion were detected, mostly on the 316L and BS S130. In order to increase corrosion protection I am considering passivation (QQ-P-35)
However, I do not know if it is safe / advisable to Passivate the Nickel Braze (if passivated as an assembly post brazing), i.e. will it have a detrimental effect to the Nickel Braze?

The other option is to Passivate the two component prior to brazing (therefore not passivating the nickel braze itself), but I believe that the temperatures involved with the brazing process (circa 1100 Deg C) will degrade the passivated finish on the two Stainless steels parts. Is this correct?

I have searched various standard sites and I could not find any standards relating to the passivation of nickel braze (some for Nickel alloys).

If any body could provide some direction, it would be appreciated.

Thanks

Braze composition (%):
Cr 7.0
B 3.1
Si 4.5
Fe 3.0
C 0.06 max
Ni Balance (82.34%)
