best way to apply point force for 3D solid elements?

best way to apply point force for 3D solid elements?

best way to apply point force for 3D solid elements?

(OP)
Hi there!!
I am modeling a complex structure with 3D Solid elements in NASTAN . While in the analysis, when I am applying point loads at the desired nodes, some high stress values are seen in the nearby nodes.

Is there a better way of applying point loads so as to avoid these abnormal stress values in the adjacent nodes.

Would highly appreciate any suggestions views.

Abhi.

RE: best way to apply point force for 3D solid elements?

Dear Abhi,
With NASTRAN use the RBE3 element, it is a powerful tool for distributing applied loads and mass in a model. Unlike the RBE2 elements, the RBE3 doesn’t add additional stiffness to your structure. Forces and moments applied to reference points are distributed to a set of independent degrees of freedom based on the RBE3 geometry and local weight factors.
Best regards,
Blas.

Dear Blas,
Thanks for your suggestion. Will keep you posted once I get to try these RBE3 elements.

Thanks and regards,
Abhi
