sources of information on short circuit current calculations

sources of information on short circuit current calculations

sources of information on short circuit current calculations

(OP)
I am interested in finding sources of information - books, articles, etc. that provide clear and straight forward explanations of short circuit calculations on both three phase and single phase distribution systems.  Any help is appreciated.

RE: sources of information on short circuit current calculations

Suggestion: Check:
E.g. SKM, Inc. (DAPPER, A-FAULT, etc.), OTI, Inc. (ETAP), EDSA, etc.
These businesses have their web sites.
                         http://www.skm.com
                         http://www.etap.com
                         http://www.edsa.com
for more info. They have manuals that support the software and tech support. They are informative too.

RE: sources of information on short circuit current calculations

I really like the IEEE Red Book as a starting point.  Also see General Electric GET-3550 - I think it on their website.  It is a good basic reference.

Also see www.easypower.com for info on ANSI Breaker ratings.

RE: sources of information on short circuit current calculations

Also:  Beeman, D, Industrial Power Systems Handbook, McGraw-Hill

RE: sources of information on short circuit current calculations

I like the GE publication recommended by dpc and linked by cuky.

RE: sources of information on short circuit current calculations

See "A Practical Guide to Short-Circuit Calculations" by Conrad St. Pierre available from www.easypower.com

RE: sources of information on short circuit current calculations

If you can get your hands on it, the Westinghouse T&D book has some good stuff on SC analysis.  I particularly like the positive, negative, and zero sequence equivalents they list.

mpparent,
The Westinghouse T&D book has been revised and re-published by ABB and includes the entire book on CD-ROM as well as hardbound.  This is the 5th revision and it's about $250.00 (US)

RE: sources of information on short circuit current calculations

Suggestion: Please, notice that the GE link in Cuky2000 posting is very similar to Reference:
1. Donald Beeman "Industrial Power Systems Handbook," First Edition, McGraw-Hill Book Company, Inc., 1955

RE: sources of information on short circuit current calculations

I am using a very user-friendly software that I downloaded from following web site. It is good for voltage drop and short circuit calculations:

www.EDReference.com

Good luck!
