Hi,

I have 6" x 35 mm pipe to elbow as well as 14" x 83 mm Thk weld joints for doing radiography.Radiography has to perform by x-ray as well as Gamma ( available only Ir 192) depending available facility at site.Piping Manufacture code is B31.3 Chapter IX. RT has to do as per ASME Sec V.Now client specifically asked about Ug requirements, which we have to meet asme sec v 100% without any excuse. My query are..

1) 6" x 35 mm wall ,Gamma ray RT -Source has kept on 4" far away from OD of pipe instead of Touch shot.(Ug not meeting with Touch shot technique).Even though NDT Level 3 has taken "d" one side wall thickness instead of OD of pipe.(Its deviated requirement code ,source side of object to film)And how can we say this technique is DWSI??

How to calculated Ug by this technique as per code.? focal spot is 2.53 mm after calculation.

2) Same job has performed by X ray Machine- Machine kept od of pipe, but x ray machine focal spot is'' back side of machine. So ultimately focal spot is not touching with od pipe. But Ug is calculated based on SWSI instead of DWDI.

How to calculated Ug by this technique as per code.? focal spot is 2.5 x2.5

Pls help me..
