Steel deck reinforcing

Steel deck reinforcing

Steel deck reinforcing

(OP)
Assume that I have a 1.5" metal deck spanning 4'-0" o.c between open web steel roof joists. The building is PEMB 100' wide and 50' long. The owner wants to put skylights 3'-0" X 3'-0" (70lb) every fourth joist. I am planning to reinforce deck for wind not gravity, but how do you reinforce the decks beyond the opening to distribute the wind loads ? If I put an angle or a chnnel (which works like drag strut) in the next bay (from joist to joist)under the deck and weld the deck to the channel and the channel to the joist ? and how about the other diretion?

RE: Steel deck reinforcing

The wind bracing I've seen spans diagonally (in a horizontal plane). To form a type of horizontal truss.
