Please guys what could be the best type of closure door for a vertical launcher?

RE: vertical launcher

Depends on various factors (usage frequency, ease of use, etc).
I see a fair proportion of vertical launchers with bandlock type QOCs.

RE: vertical launcher

IMHO I believe these are some of the best QOCs on the market. http://www.spx.com/en/gd-engineering/pd-mp-quick-o...

Closures are a vital part of a pig trap design and need to be the best you can get. Just make sure you't paint the locking surface though - took 6 of us half a day to open one once because someone had painted where they shouldn't have....

Also: There's usually a good reason why everyone does it that way

RE: vertical launcher

I presume you't = DON'T!

Independent events are seldomly independent.

RE: vertical launcher

Big Inch - Correct, should have read - DON'T PAINT THE CLOSURE LOCKING SURFACES - That day it certainly wasn't a "quick" opening closure. The design though remains one of the best I've seen and I've seen some horrible closures in my time that scared me every time I went near them.

RE: vertical launcher

For higher pressure and larger sizes there are alternatives to the Bandloc. IMHO, anything above 5K psi is out of their comfort zone in most cases. If it's vertical, do you want to have dedicated open/close system or use a jib crane?
